US President Donald Trump announced possible progress in the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas. He made his statement against the backdrop of closed-door talks in Doha with Qatar and Egypt as mediators.

Trump announced "good news" regarding the situation in Gaza
"We have good news about Gaza," Trump said at a White House ceremony, thanking the special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Whitkoff. He did not disclose the details, but noted that this also concerns other "top-level issues."

Qatar had previously conveyed Israel's proposal for a 60-day truce to Hamas. The Palestinian side gave a "positive response" and expressed its readiness to discuss the implementation of the agreement, including the exchange of prisoners. However, Israel rejected the amendments proposed by Hamas, considering them unacceptable. Nevertheless, the Israeli delegation arrived in Doha to continue the consultations.

The parties, according to sources, have brought their positions closer on several points, but Israel's demand to maintain control over the Moreg corridor and the city of Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip remains a serious obstacle.
