Armistice in Gaza, confrontation with Iran and military support of Israel are the main topics of Trump and Netanyahu's meeting in Washington.
On Tuesday, February 4, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will become the first foreign leader to be received by US President Donald Trump after his inauguration. The talks that will take place in the White House will be devoted to the future of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, containment of Iran and further cooperation between the two countries in the military sphere.
The talks are in the midst of challenging regional challenges: the truce in Gaza remains fragile, the deadline for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon is drawing to a close, and the nuclear threat from Tehran continues to cause concern. Netanyahu also intends to secure guarantees for the continued supply of weapons from the United States.
On the eve of the meeting, Trump said that negotiations on the Middle East were "progressing," but did not reveal details. Following the talks, the leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference.
