Trump Returns to the White House, Showcases a True Spectacle of Decisions and Changes
Political
Trump ordered the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf and Mount Denali to McKinley. He promised to "take back" the Panama Canal and launch American astronauts to Mars to plant the Stars and Stripes. Additionally, the President vowed to crack down on immigration, repeal LGBTQ+ rights, and dismantle climate regulations. He pardoned over 1,500 supporters involved in the January 6, 2021, attack on Congress, including far-right extremists charged with conspiracy.
A few hours earlier, Trump officially became the 47th President of the United States. The inauguration ceremony, as previously reported, was held inside the Capitol building in Washington due to inclement weather. During the event, Donald Trump revoked several decisions signed by Joe Biden and ceremoniously signed new ones, including those reflecting his steadfast stance on immigration. Regarding immigration, Trump declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border.
According to him, the national emergency at the southern border will stop all illegal entry and initiate the process of returning millions of criminal migrants to their places of origin.
Trump directed every government department to work on "eliminating the cost-of-living crisis," preventing "government censorship," and ending "the weaponization of government against the previous administration's enemies."
Trump revoked Biden's designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism. He also lifted sanctions imposed during Biden's era on Israeli settlers and organizations in the West Bank. He announced to journalists that tariffs against Canada and Mexico would be introduced starting February 1.
At the ceremony, several decisions of national importance were signed, including measures focusing on fossil fuel development and opening "Alaska's energy potential for the entire nation." He also signed a "national energy emergency" declaration.
Trump rescinded Biden's order aimed at reducing the use of private prisons. He signed an order titled "Protecting Women from Radical Gender Ideologies."
Under last year's law, Trump signed an order delaying the federal ban on the Chinese-owned TikTok social media app.
He also vowed to deploy troops to the southern border to reverse the destructive flow of migration. "Using the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, I will direct our government to fully and powerfully enforce federal and state laws to eliminate all foreign gangs and criminal networks bringing devastating crimes to U.S. soil, including our cities and inner communities," said the U.S. President.
Trump announced plans to end the "Green New Deal"—the name for progressive environmental goals adopted during Biden's term—and sought to stop government support for electric vehicles. He also blamed Biden and others for failing to address Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and climate disasters in California, promising new developments in this area.
