U.S. President Donald Trump considers Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement on a possible ceasefire in Ukraine to be "promising" but "not complete."

Trump Said He Was Disappointed in Putin
If Putin does not agree to the proposal put forward by the U.S. and Ukraine following negotiations in Jeddah, it will be a disappointing event, Trump said at a press conference on March 13 in Washington with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.

"Many details of the agreement have already been discussed. Now we will see whether Russia will participate or not. If not, this will be an extremely disappointing moment for the whole world," Trump said. According to him, he would like to meet with Putin personally to discuss the ceasefire proposal.

Earlier, Putin stated that he agreed to a ceasefire in Ukraine under certain conditions.

"This ceasefire should lead to long-term peace and eliminate the root causes of this crisis," he said at a press conference in Moscow with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

"How will these 30 days be used? Will forced mobilization in Ukraine continue? Will weapons continue to be supplied? Will newly mobilized units undergo training? Or will none of this happen?" — Putin's words were quoted by Interfax.

The Russian president also raised the question of "how control and verification issues will be resolved." "What guarantees will we have that such things will not happen? How will control be organized?" he said.

It should be recalled that on March 11, negotiations between the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations were held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on a peace settlement. As a result of the meeting, Kyiv agreed to the U.S. proposal to declare a 30-day ceasefire.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that it was now Russia's turn to respond. According to him, if Moscow responds positively to this initiative, the ceasefire will come into effect. After that, peace negotiations should begin.

However, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov stated on March 13 that Russia is interested not in a temporary truce but in a long-term resolution of the conflict.
