Direct flights between Istanbul and Damascus will not only strengthen trade and economic relations but also provide an opportunity to develop diplomatic ties between the two countries.

This event is not only related to air transport. Meanwhile, relations between Turkey and Syria have been rapidly developing since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, considering intervention in the Syrian crisis necessary, emphasized that this decision is not only justified but also important. At the same time, international flights have also been restored in the Syrian capital.

These flights will certainly mark the beginning of a new diplomatic process between the two countries and lay the foundation for more effective cooperation in the coming years.
