UK Lawmakers Push Sanctions on Israel
World
Over 60 UK parliamentarians have backed a proposal to impose arms embargoes, trade restrictions, and targeted sanctions against Israel amid the Gaza conflict and threats to annex the West Bank.
Senior Labour MP Richard Burgon is leading a cross-party initiative for the UK to implement comprehensive sanctions on Israel. Supported by more than 60 MPs, the proposal calls for restrictions on arms supplies, trade, economic activity, and measures against Israeli officials.
Burgon stated that following the “genocide in Gaza” and Israel’s moves toward annexing the West Bank, only sanctions could halt these “war crimes.” The initiative also references a statement endorsed by 85 UN member states, condemning the de facto annexation of the West Bank as a violation of international law.
