Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan's diplomatic corps in the United Arab Emirates has a new leader. The Senate of the Oliy Majlis has approved the appointment of Umid Shadiyev as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties with one of the key partners in the Middle East.
The decision was made based on a nomination by the President of Uzbekistan. During the session, senators highlighted Umid Shadiyev's professional excellence, emphasizing his profound expertise in foreign policy and his potential for effectively promoting the country's national interests on the international stage.
Prior to this high-profile appointment, Umid Shadiyev served as the Chairman of the Tourism Committee. Notably, in December 2025, Abdulaziz Akkulov, the previous Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UAE, took over as the head of the Tourism Committee. This reciprocal personnel reshuffle between the diplomatic and tourism sectors is intended to bolster both international relations and Uzbekistan's tourism potential.
