Today, June 30, UN Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as reported by Bekzod Khidoyatov, the Prime Minister's press secretary.

"At Tashkent International Airport, the distinguished guest was welcomed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Aripov, and other officials," wrote Bekzod Khidoyatov.

After a brief conversation, the UN Secretary-General, accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, departed for his designated residence.

The UN Secretary-General will be in Uzbekistan on an official visit from June 30 to July 1. The program of his stay in Tashkent includes high-level talks. The agenda includes issues of further expanding and strengthening Uzbekistan's multifaceted cooperation with the UN and its institutions, as well as relevant aspects of global policy and regional interaction. Special attention will be given to supporting measures to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in Uzbekistan. During his visit, the UN Secretary-General will also visit several industrial and social facilities, and hold bilateral meetings and events.

It is worth noting that António Guterres last visited the region in 2017. On July 4, he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Kazakhstan.
