Tensions between the United States and Iran escalated once again as both sides reported large-scale military strikes and accused each other of violating a previously agreed ceasefire.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces struck more than 80 military targets inside Iran. According to the statement, the operation targeted air defense systems, command-and-control facilities, coastal radar stations, anti-ship defense assets and more than 60 small vessels belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Washington also repeated its accusation that Iran had attacked three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Iran's Tasnim News Agency, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported retaliatory strikes against 85 U.S. military facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait. Iranian officials also claimed that a U.S. MQ-9 drone had been shot down.

Tehran stated that U.S. strikes targeted coastal bases and civilian facilities, describing the operation as a serious violation of the ceasefire. A day earlier, the U.S. Treasury Department revoked a license that had allowed the supply and sale of Iranian oil and petroleum products.
