On the first day of the visit, Bakhtiyor Saidov held a meeting with Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Haji Hasan. "Despite the considerable distance between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur, Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Malaysia can and should constantly seek new points of contact and facilitate the expansion of the political, parliamentary, economic, cultural, and humanitarian dialogue," he noted on his social media page.

One of the key highlights of Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov’s visit will be his participation in the inaugural Uzbek Business Forum in Kuala Lumpur. The forum aims to foster closer economic ties between Uzbekistan and Malaysia and will witness the presence of high-ranking officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade, alongside representatives from various business entities and regional authorities.

The visit holds immense significance as it comes at a time when the Republic of Uzbekistan has emerged as Malaysia’s second-largest trading partner in the Central Asian region. Trade between the two countries reached a commendable value of  451.9 million Ringit (USD94.03 million) in 2023, reflecting a notable increase of 30.9% from the previous year.
