Uzbek-French Chamber of Commerce is launched

Presidents of Uzbekistan and France Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emmanuel Macron have met for extended talks on the occasion of the French leader's visit to Uzbekistan. During the meeting, they discussed key aspects of strengthening cooperation in political and economic spheres.
The talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries. The Uzbek head of state expressed gratitude to Macron for arriving with a representative delegation including officials, business leaders and representatives of cultural and scientific spheres. This demonstrates a high level of mutual understanding and aspiration to deepen Uzbek-French relations.
Discussing the dynamics of cooperation, it was noted that the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and France is expected to exceed 1 billion euros in the near future. The sides also discussed the portfolio of current and prospective projects, which exceeds 10 billion euros. To date, leading French companies such as Orano, EDF, Total, SUEZ and many others are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
The heads of state expressed intention to continue active political contacts, including dialogues between parliaments, governments and agencies of the two countries. The key areas of cooperation include the extraction and processing of strategic resources, development of alternative energy sources, modernisation of water supply, development of infrastructure and tourism.
An important step will be the establishment of the Uzbek-French Chamber of Commerce and the opening of an office of the Business France agency in Tashkent. The heads of state also welcomed the opening of a branch of the French Alliance in Samarkand and agreed to expand co-operation in education.
Summing up the results, the heads of state instructed to prepare a detailed road map for the implementation of the agreements reached, which is an important step in further deepening the Uzbek-French partnership.
