"Uzbekcosmos" is implementing space technologies for soil monitoring
The project aims to develop effective strategies for soil restoration and land resource management in Uzbekistan.

As part of the initiative, specialists will use vegetation indices (NDVI) and salinity indices (SSI) to assess soil conditions.

This will reduce the need for large-scale field sampling, accelerate data collection, and reduce laboratory research costs.

The project also provides for the creation of an open geoplatform where users can receive analytics on land resources.

The project's global goal is to improve data collection and analysis to assess Uzbekistan's progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

The initiative is being implemented jointly with the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
