Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are set to strengthen cooperation between their law enforcement agencies. The prospects for further engagement were discussed on August 20 by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, and Rashad Eynaddin oglu Mammadov, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan.

The sides noted the continued development of friendly relations, mutual trust and strategic partnership between the two countries.

The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries’ internal affairs agencies. Particular attention was given to exchanging experience in combating crime, terrorism and extremism, transnational organised crime and drug trafficking.

Cybercrime was also identified as a separate area for cooperation. Both sides expressed interest in further strengthening practical engagement in maintaining law and order and ensuring public security.

The meeting concluded with the identification of prospective tasks and a reaffirmation of the parties’ intention to continue developing mutually beneficial ties between the relevant institutions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
