At the intergovernmental commission meeting held at the Amirsoy mountain resort, Deputy Prime Ministers Jamshid Khodjaev and Yuri Shuleiko agreed on a strategic program aimed at doubling mutual trade turnover and launching large-scale cooperation in heavy and light industries ahead of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's upcoming state visit to Minsk.
Uzbekistan and Belarus are developing a comprehensive roadmap for cooperation spanning 2026–2030, with the objective of driving annual trade turnover to $2 billion. These breakthrough figures were discussed at the 12th meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on May 19 in Amirsoy. By the end of 2025, mutual trade under the free trade regime grew by 25% to reach $965 million, and in the first quarter of 2026, it surged by another nearly 50% ($259.7 million). The expansion of cargo transportation, which reached 796.6 thousand tons last year, will be supported through the development of sustainable automotive corridors.
Industrial cooperation in electrical engineering, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, agricultural machinery, and textiles has been designated as priority areas. Currently, the total portfolio of joint projects is valued at $341 million, with 245 enterprises operating in Uzbekistan with Belarusian capital, and 110 established in Belarus with Uzbek capital. The parties also finalized the agenda for the upcoming state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Belarus this summer.
