Uzbekistan and Italy strengthen strategic partnership

Following the high-level talks in Samarkand, Uzbekistan and Italy adopted a Joint Declaration on Strengthening Strategic Partnership, signed a number of key agreements, and announced further rapprochement in economics, education, ecology, and culture. A street in Samarkand was named after the city of Rome.

A ceremony of exchanging signed bilateral documents took place in the presence of the heads of state. Among them:
- Agreement on the Promotion and Mutual Protection of Investments;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of critical raw materials;
- Agreement on cooperation in the field of migration and mobility;
- Аgreements on sustainable development, environmental protection and cultural heritage;
- Аgreements on cooperation with the Climate Fund and the Italian Agricultural Confederation, as well as partnership with "Sogesid" and "Ansaldo" companies in the field of "green" technologies;
- Аgreements with the universities of Tuscia, Pisa, and Turin.

Documents were also signed with the Italian National Research Center, "SIMEST" and "Danieli" companies, Perugia University, and other partners.

As part of the visit, a solemn ceremony was held to name one of the streets of Samarkand after the city of Rome.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted:
"This decision was made taking into account the deep historical and cultural ties, the current high level of strategic partnership relations, as well as as a sign of friendship and mutual respect between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Italy."
