On March 18, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the European Union delegation headed by European Commissioner for International Cooperation Joseph Siquel. The main topic of the negotiations was the strengthening of trade, economic, and investment ties between Uzbekistan and the EU.

The parties discussed the early signing of a new Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which will open up additional opportunities for joint projects in the fields of transport, logistics, energy, digitalization, and water management. Special attention was paid to the issues of processing critical mineral resources.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the first "Central Asia - EU" summit and the Climate Forum, which will be held in early April in Samarkand. The European Union expressed its readiness to expand cooperation with Uzbekistan, noting the growing potential for cooperation in the region.
