May 8 - US Victory Day in World War II
US President Donald Trump made loud statements on the Truth Social social network regarding the outcomes of World War II. According to him, without the participation of the United States, the victory of the allies would be impossible.

"We won two world wars, but we don't attribute merit to ourselves. But it was we who did it! Today, victory is being celebrated by everyone except us," Trump wrote.

He emphasized that America "has done more for victory than any other country" and declared May 8 as the US World War II Victory Day, and November 11 as World War I Victory Day.

At the same time, both days will not be official holidays. "There are already too many holidays in America," the president noted.

These initiatives provoked widespread reaction, especially in the context of disagreements regarding the historical role of various countries in the victory over Nazism. While Russia celebrates Victory Day on May 9th - due to the time difference in signing Germany's capitulation - Trump insists on recognizing May 8th as the day "the world was saved by the efforts of the US."
