“Winter Is Getting Closer, People Need Gas”: Uzbekneftegaz Steps Up Winter Preparations

Uzbekneftegaz has begun a 30-day phase of preparations for the autumn-winter season. A meeting chaired by Board Chairman Abdugani Sanginov focused on gas production, the condition of wells and measures to ensure stable supplies to consumers.
“Where are we making mistakes? What other measures need to be taken to achieve results? Winter is getting closer, people need gas,” Sanginov said. He called for tighter control directly at fields and wells and stressed the need for measurable results: “Every instruction must reach the field, every well, and the result must be measurable.”
The company will introduce KPIs for employees responsible for gas production at individual wells. The approach, tested by the Mubarek Oil and Gas Production Department, will be introduced on a pilot basis across all production units. Monthly incentives are also planned for units that maintain their baseline production levels.
Uzbekneftegaz plans to accelerate the development of deep wells, drilling using new designs with foreign partners and the commissioning of new wells. Working groups involving production units, geologists, design institutes, dispatch services and foreign partners will analyse declining well output and monitor operational tasks. Inspections are due to begin on September 16.
The meeting also reviewed the Gissarneftegaz joint venture. Although oil and gas condensate production doubled following measures taken, the company fulfilled 61% of its January–August production plan. The target is to raise this figure to at least 90% by the end of the year.
According to Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, industrial production reached UZS 795.4 trillion in January–July 2026.
