Uzbekistan begins preparation for the Olympics-2028
Uzbekistan
On July 1, the President reviewed the draft resolution on preparations for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. The initiative became a continuation of Uzbek athletes' success in Paris-2024, where the country took 13th place in the medal standings.
The project includes 10 priorities: differentiated development of sports, identification of talents at the grassroots level, national training system, international cooperation, and infrastructure strengthening.
14 regional branches of the National Olympic Committee have been established. Regional leaders have been appointed as special representatives of the President for the development of the Olympic movement.
A three-stage competition "Olympic Heights of New Uzbekistan" is being launched. Its final - the "Presidential Olympiad" - will be held annually in the Olympic Village. The winners will be enrolled in Olympic centers.
From 2026, the Republican Olympic and Paralympic Center will be transferred to state financing. It will include school, college, and scholarships from the Ministry of Sport. The facilities of the Olympic Village are being transferred for free training.
Private sports clubs will be allowed to participate in official competitions. Athletes with high results will be able to get into the national teams. The winners of international tournaments will be admitted to military universities without exams. Incentives are provided for coaches.
The Head of State instructed to develop infrastructure in the regions, support federations, and create a sustainable Olympic reserve training system.
