Uzbekistan Establishes Diplomatic Relations with Another African Country

On February 5, a joint communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Somalia was signed in New York, reports the "Dunyo" news agency.
The document was signed on behalf of the governments of both countries by Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ulugbek Lapasov, and Somalia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Abukar Dahir Usman.
The sides confirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation within international organizations, including the UN and its specialized agencies.
An agreement was reached to activate bilateral relations with the aim of finding mutually beneficial cooperation in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian fields.
The signing of this document marks an important step in the path of enhancing cooperation between Uzbekistan and African countries. Thus, the Federal Republic of Somalia has become the 157th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan.
It is worth noting that in 2024, Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations with 12 countries from Africa, America, and Europe.
