Uzbekistan
The Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a regular meeting of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work Issues.
The meeting was chaired by Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and Chairperson of the National Commission on Combating Human Trafficking and Decent Work Issues. The discussions focused on the work carried out in 2024, the measures taken, persisting challenges, and the priorities planned for 2025.
In 2024, more than 30 legal and regulatory documents were adopted to combat human trafficking, ensure citizens' labor rights, and align relevant legislation with international standards. Five conventions of the International Labour Organization were ratified.
Considerable efforts were made to widely implement the principles of decent work, international labor, production, and technical standards across economic sectors.
Significant improvements were noted in identifying crimes related to human trafficking and holding perpetrators accountable.
Victims of human trafficking were provided with medical, psychological, and legal assistance, as well as support in employment, entrepreneurship, and solving housing issues.
Problematic areas in regional efforts to combat human trafficking and promote decent work principles were also discussed.
Reports were heard from the Ministry of Internal Affairs on human trafficking issues and the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment on decent work issues, along with input from regional commissions.
The draft roadmap for implementing the proposals made in the 2025 work report, developed jointly by the National Commission and relevant ministries and agencies, was reviewed.
Additionally, the draft Concept for Combating Human Trafficking in Uzbekistan, developed by the Sub-Commission on Combating Human Trafficking, and the Action Plan for its implementation were reviewed and approved.
