The Central Customs Laboratory of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan has been officially recognized as a member of the unified forensic system of the Turkic States Organization (TSET). This decision was made following the first meeting of the Council of Forensic Organizations of TSET member states held in Baku.

The meeting was attended by leaders of 17 forensic institutions from TSET member countries. Uzbekistan was represented by the Central Customs Laboratory as well as specialized expert units from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Ministry of Health.

A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the creation of the Turkic States Forensic Organizations Network (TSET), which designated Uzbekistan’s customs service as the unified forensic organization of the Turkic States, recognizing the laboratory’s high professional potential.

The Central Customs Laboratory, which received regional status from the World Customs Organization in 2021, has undergone extensive modernization in recent years. New forensic directions were introduced, laboratory capabilities expanded, and service quality significantly improved.

Today, the laboratory provides high-level forensic support not only to customs authorities but also to other law enforcement agencies and business representatives.

The memorandum signed in Baku opens new opportunities for standardizing forensic practices, enhancing quality management systems, developing scientific research cooperation, training personnel, and expanding information exchange among TSET countries.

During the event, the laboratory’s director, R. Ruziyev, also held bilateral meetings with colleagues from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, discussing synthetic drug detection, combating illegal trafficking, and further practical cooperation prospects.
