Uzbekistan Seeks $300 Million from Mobiuz Sale
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan plans to raise $300 million by selling 100% of the mobile operator Mobiuz, according to Bloomberg, citing informed sources. The deal is part of a large-scale privatization program launched by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Potential investors from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and European countries have reportedly shown early interest. The international firm Rothschild & Co is serving as the transaction's lead strategic and financial advisor.
According to the State Assets Management Agency, Mobiuz generated $164 million in revenue in 2024, with an EBITDA of $41 million. The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is set for August 1.
The sale is part of Uzbekistan's broader effort to attract at least 10 trillion soums (around $786 million) in investments in 2025. By the end of 2026, the government plans to fully or partially privatize shares in 29 major state-owned companies, spanning sectors such as telecommunications and energy.
