Uzbekistan Sees Rising Mortality and Declining Birth Rate

The Statistics Agency reports that the number of births in Uzbekistan from January to September 2024 has decreased compared to the previous year, while the death toll continues to rise.
As of October 1, 2024, Uzbekistan's permanent population exceeded 37.355 million. There are 18.8 million men and over 18.5 million women, with 19 million residing in cities and 18.3 million in rural areas.
In the first nine months of 2024, 693,900 babies were born in Uzbekistan, compared to 716,900 births in 2023.
During this period in 2024, 131,700 people passed away, while the death count for the same period in 2023 was 129,700.
