Uzbekistan Strengthens Its Investment Position in London

A series of high-level meetings took place in London involving Saida Mirziyoyeva and representatives of the UK government, the London Stock Exchange, and major international financial institutions. The talks focused on growing investor interest in Uzbekistan, the successful IPO of UzNIF, and the development of the country’s financial market.

Saida Mirziyoyeva met with Varun Chandra, Investment Adviser to the UK Prime Minister, and Lord John Alderdice, the UK Trade Envoy for Central Asia and Azerbaijan. The parties discussed UzNIF’s successful entry into global markets and the increasing interest of British businesses in Uzbekistan. British investments in the country have already exceeded $1 billion.

A separate meeting was held with Jenny Johnson, CEO of Franklin Templeton. Discussions focused on developing Uzbekistan’s capital market, improving financial legislation, integrating with international clearing systems, and establishing the Tashkent International Financial Centre.

Talks were also held with Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange. Key topics included the successful listing of Uzbekistan’s National Investment Fund on the LSE, cooperation in sustainable finance, ESG standards, and green bonds.

According to Hoggett, UzNIF’s placement became the largest IPO on the London Stock Exchange in the past five years, highlighting growing global investor confidence in Uzbekistan’s economic reforms.
