Currently, the project portfolio between Uzbekistan and JICA covers energy, transport, agriculture, healthcare, and education sectors, with a total value exceeding $8 billion. In 2024, a three-year cooperation program was approved to support reforms and contribute to building New Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, it was noted that over 2,500 Uzbek specialists have undergone training and internships in Japan, while Japanese volunteers actively participate in implementing social and humanitarian projects in Uzbekistan.

Among the latest achievements is the signing of an agreement to construct a Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Neurology and Stroke in Tashkent.

President Mirziyoyev supported JICA’s initiatives to expand its activities in Uzbekistan. Key priorities include:

Establishing a special economic zone for Japanese investors.

Opening a Japanese university.

Developing vocational education and the private sector.

Both sides agreed to implement mechanisms to accelerate the execution of ongoing and future projects. A “roadmap” will be developed to ensure the efficient advancement of these initiatives.

This meeting marks a new stage in Uzbekistan-Japan cooperation and strengthens the strategic partnership with JICA, aimed at advancing key economic sectors and social projects.
