On April 29, the Uzbekistan Olympic football team won against Indonesia with a score of 2-0 in the semi-final match of the AFC U23 Asian Cup, as reported by the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

It is noted that Khusayin Norchaev opened the scoring in the 68th minute, while in the 86th minute, opposing player Pratama Arhan scored an own goal.

"Today's date will undoubtedly be inscribed in the history of Uzbek sports in golden letters... Thus, our Olympians, led by Timur Kapadze, have made it to the final of the Asian Cup and have also secured the long-awaited Olympic license," the statement emphasizes.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his congratulations to the Uzbekistan U-23 football team.

"Sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on reaching the final of the AFC U23 Asian Cup in Qatar and securing a spot in the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Sports fans of the country, our entire multinational people, received this brilliant victory with immense joy and pride, achieved for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan football. It was our long-standing cherished dream. You have every right to be proud that it is thanks to you, the youth of the New Uzbekistan, that this dream has become a reality. Your historic victory is undoubtedly based on the meticulous attention paid in recent years to the development of sports in our country, including football, and the extensive practical work carried out in this area," the congratulatory message reads.

Thus, by reaching the final of the AFC U23 Asian Cup, the Uzbekistan U-23 team has secured qualification for the Olympic Games for the first time in its history, scheduled to be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
