Uzbekistan’s U20 national team made a strong start at the AFC U20 Asian Cup, currently being held in China. In their first group stage match, Farhod Nishonov’s squad secured a 1-0 victory against Yemen. The only goal of the match was scored by Muhammadali Orinboev.
The game was part of Group C, which also includes Iran and Indonesia. Uzbekistan will play their next match against Indonesia on February 16.
It’s worth noting that the previous U20 Asian Cup was held in Uzbekistan in 2023, where the national team claimed the title by defeating Iraq 1-0 in the final. Now, the team aims to defend their status as the continent’s strongest youth squad.
