Voting for the “Initiative Budget” Projects Begins on February 1
Uzbekistan
The first season of the 2025 “Initiative Budget” program in Uzbekistan will start on February 1 and continue until March 20. The winning projects will be announced on March 21, during the Navruz holiday. This process is managed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Each stage of this season has clearly defined deadlines:
Project Submission Stage: February 1–20. During this period, citizens and organizations submit their projects.
Selection Stage: February 21–March 7. At this stage, the projects are reviewed for technical and economic feasibility.
Promotion Stage: March 8–10. Information about the projects is disseminated to garner public support.
Voting Stage: March 11–20. Citizens vote for their preferred projects during this phase.
According to the Senate Council's decision, annual funding is allocated from the budgets of each district and city to support 10 to 30 projects. If the number of projects exceeds 10, additional funds are distributed based on the population share of the respective district or city. This approach ensures equal opportunities for all projects and accounts for citizens' interests.
In 2024, voting within the “Initiative Budget” process was held from March 13 to April 1. A total of 3.02 trillion soums was allocated during the previous season.
The “Initiative Budget” process is designed to support citizens’ direct initiatives and involve them in the allocation of budgetary funds. This program plays a key role in strengthening the dialogue between the state and society. Public participation influences not only the funding of projects but also their quality and timely implementation.
