Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed interest in meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. She stated that Trump is also open to meeting both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“As President Trump posted today on Truth Social, significant progress was made during his envoy Steve Witkoff’s meeting with President Putin. The Russian side expressed interest in a direct meeting with Trump, and the President is prepared to meet both Putin and Zelensky,” Leavitt said.

According to The New York Times, citing two sources familiar with the matter, Trump is planning to meet Putin next week, followed by a potential trilateral meeting that includes Zelensky.

Earlier, Zelensky commented on his recent phone call with Trump, which came after Witkoff’s visit to Moscow. “While returning from our brigades in Sumy, I spoke with President Trump. We agree: the war must end — and it must end honestly,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram. He also thanked UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for their support during the talks.
