Zelensky and Trump Discuss Frontline Situation in 'Important and Productive' Call
Political
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, describing the conversation as “very important and productive.” The leaders discussed Russian airstrikes and efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense.
Zelensky emphasized that Trump was well-informed about developments on the front. Both agreed to deepen cooperation on air defense and to initiate joint defense projects, particularly in drone technology.
The Ukrainian leader also highlighted plans for direct defense industry collaboration with the U.S. A follow-up meeting between their respective teams has already been scheduled.
This call came just one day after Trump’s phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. While the Kremlin described that talk as "constructive," Putin reiterated that Russia would not abandon its objectives in Ukraine.
Trump later criticized the previous U.S. administration for supplying “too many” weapons to Ukraine. The Pentagon’s recent pause in certain arms shipments reflects a shift toward prioritizing U.S. domestic military readiness.
