Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Cairo, Mansur Bek Qilichev, reported that on December 26, under the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, 100 Palestinian children and women, along with their companions, who had been affected by the conflict, were evacuated to Uzbekistan.
The evacuated Palestinians will remain in Uzbekistan as guests until they can return to their homeland.
In a statement to the Middle Eastern news agency, Qilichev noted that sick Palestinians will receive treatment in Uzbekistan’s healthcare centers and hospitals. The Uzbek government will provide for all the needs of these families, including accommodations, schools, food, and other services.
It was also reported that in his speech at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit on the Palestinian issue in November 2024, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of halting military actions in Palestine and ensuring safe humanitarian corridors. He also expressed Tashkent’s willingness to host Palestinian guests.
