Today marks the 101st anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan. Politicians, political scientists, cultural figures, and scientists pay tribute to his contribution to history.

His biography is a story of service to his people:

Education and early career: Heydar Aliyev received his education at the Nakhchivan Pedagogical Technical College and the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute, where he studied architecture. After that, he worked in the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs and the Council of People's Commissars of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and in 1944 he was assigned to the state security agencies.
Leadership of Azerbaijan: In 1969, Heydar Aliyev was appointed the leader of the Azerbaijan SSR. Under his leadership, the republic embarked on the path of effective development. In 1993, when the current leadership of Azerbaijan was unable to fulfill its duties, Heydar Aliyev headed the Supreme Council of the AR, and then in this capacity, he was given the powers of the acting president. On October 3 of the same year, Heydar Aliyev was elected President of Azerbaijan.
Achievements: Over 10 years of leading the Republic of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation for the further glorious history of the republic. He achieved a ceasefire with Armenia, concluded the "Contract of the Century" for the development of the "Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli" block, preserved cultural heritage sites, and developed Russian-Azerbaijani relations.
