Hungary Doubles Scholarship Quota for Uzbek Students
Uzbekistan
On July 17, during the meeting of the Uzbekistan–Hungary Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held in Budapest, an additional protocol to the Memorandum of Cooperation on the Stipendium Hungaricum program was signed. The document stipulates that the annual quota of scholarships allocated by Hungary for Uzbek citizens will be increased to 200.
This new agreement marks a significant step forward in educational cooperation between the two countries and broadens opportunities for Uzbek youth to pursue quality education at prestigious Hungarian universities.
Since 2018, more than 400 Uzbek students have already benefited from the program and studied at various universities in Hungary. The popularity of Stipendium Hungaricum among young Uzbeks continues to grow, which led to the expansion of the quota. Study programs are selected based on Uzbekistan’s economic priorities, and students can study in English or Hungarian.
Importantly, the program is fully funded by the Hungarian government, covering tuition, accommodation, medical services, and a monthly stipend. The only cost borne by students is the airfare.
The newly signed protocol also emphasizes the importance of transparency and fairness in the selection process.
