A Sudan military plane crashed into residential buildings: dozens of people died, including high-ranking officers.
A Sudanese military transport aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, hitting residential quarters in the city of Omdurman, Khartoum province.
At least 46 people died as a result of the disaster, and about ten others were injured. Among the victims are a Sudanese army major general and several high-ranking officers.
According to preliminary data, the crash was caused by a technical malfunction, the aircraft caught fire in the rear before falling.
Search and rescue operations are continuing at the disaster site. Sudanese authorities have not yet commented on the tragedy.
