A transport program for the Organization of Turkic States is being developed
As the General Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States, we are currently developing an action plan for the implementation of the transport program,” said OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev in a report from the Turkish Bureau

The Secretary General noted that at the organization’s summit in Samarkand last year, the heads of the OTS member states emphasized the importance of further developing cooperation to improve infrastructure along the middle corridor, digitalization and integration of transport procedures to increase the transit potential of the route.

As part of the Samarkand Summit, the General Secretariat of the OTS signed agreements on improving the legal framework for cooperation in the transport sector, joint transportation of goods, the creation of a simplified customs corridor and the OTS transport program. All this is aimed at creating favorable conditions for transport and transit operations.

According to Kubanychbek, over the past year, the OTS has expanded its organizational agenda in the direction of the railway sector: “In October last year, the heads of the railway departments of the Turkic states in Tashkent discussed direct container and multimodal transportation to increase trade between the OTS countries by attracting additional volumes of cargo from third countries , including agreeing to make efforts to organize direct block trains. And as a first step towards implementing these solutions, we witnessed the departure of the first freight train from Turkey to Uzbekistan with the active participation of the private sector. In April of this year, we organized an International Forum in the city of Fergana entitled “Railway communication of the Turkic states: Fergana Valley - Anatolia”.
