Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was died in a helicopter crash in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province on 19 May, state-run Mehr news agency reported.

He was 64 years old. Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, the Imam of Friday prayers in Tabriz, the head of East Azerbaijan Province Malek Rahmati, the helicopter crew and one security officer were also killed.

The helicopter carrying Ebrahim Raisi was returning from Azerbaijan on 19 May after a working visit by an Iranian delegation. It crashed and disappeared in the Arsbaran district of East Azerbaijan province. He was searched for more than 10 hours by 73 rescue teams.
