UN Secretary-General to embark on a tour of Central Asia

The first stop on the tour is Uzbekistan.
On 29 June, UN Secretary-General António Guterres will begin a tour of all Central Asian countries. He last visited the region in 2017. This was announced at a briefing in New York on Friday by the UN chief's spokesman Stephane Dujarric.
According to him, in each of the countries, the Secretary General will meet with heads of state and senior government representatives, as well as familiarise himself with projects related to the fight against climate change and talk to local activists.
The first stop on the tour is Uzbekistan. In Kazakhstan on 4 July, the Secretary General will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
