Gafarova spoke in favour of sincere dialogue within the framework of international parliamentary platforms to avoid double standards.

"Parliaments should promote co-operation, build bridges, fight confrontation. We should promote sincere dialogue so as not to become a platform for double standards, as it happens, for example, in the European Parliament," she said.

The Speaker of the Milli Majlis expressed confidence that the BRICS Parliamentary Forum would turn into an effective platform for co-operation.

The 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum is taking place on 11-12 July at the Tavrichesky Palace in St. Petersburg. The BRICS group was founded in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, with South Africa joining in 2011. On 1 January 2024, Egypt, Iran, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia became full members of the group. This year, the Russian Federation is chairing the association. The main event will be the BRICS summit, which will be held in 2024 from 22 to 24 October in Kazan.

The main goal of BRICS is to create a platform for mutually beneficial partnership, ensuring financial and social stability in each of the countries.
