Bakhtiyor Saidov Agrees on Cooperation with Algerian Foreign Minister
Political
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, held extensive interagency talks in Algeria, aimed at elevating bilateral relations with this key African nation to a qualitatively new, pragmatic level. During the meetings with Ahmed Attaf, State Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs of Algeria, the sides discussed in detail how to unlock the substantial unrealized trade and economic potential. The Uzbek Foreign Minister emphasized that Tashkent views Algeria as one of its most promising and strategically vital partners on the African continent.
The discussions, held in both narrow and extended formats, spanned a wide spectrum of issues, from intensifying regular political dialogue and launching joint investment projects to coordinating actions within key multilateral frameworks such as the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement. The diplomats paid close attention to the escalating situation in the Middle East, calling for restraint and de-escalation through international dialogue. The primary practical outcome of the visit was the signing of an intergovernmental agreement on the mutual exemption of visa requirements for diplomatic passport holders, alongside a memorandum of understanding between the Diplomatic Academy under the UWED of Uzbekistan and the Algerian Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations, establishing a solid legal framework for long-term partnership and joint professional training.
