Baku Backs Tehran: Humanitarian Aid Sent to Iran

Azerbaijan has sent humanitarian assistance to Iran to support the population of the neighboring country. The decision followed a phone conversation between the leaders of the two states.

The aid was dispatched on the instructions of Azerbaijan’s president Ilham Aliyev after a telephone call with Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian on March 8, 2026.

According to reports, the humanitarian cargo was delivered by vehicles of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan and is intended to meet the current needs of the population.

The shipment includes food supplies, water, and medical aid. In particular, Azerbaijan sent 10 tons of flour, 6 tons of rice, 2.4 tons of sugar, more than 4 tons of drinking water, around 600 kilograms of tea, and nearly 2 tons of medicines and medical supplies.

The assistance was provided as support for the people of Iran as a neighboring and friendly nation.
