Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk on 11 April. This was reported by the minister in his Telegram channel.

During the meeting with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko thanked Tashkent for its support in joining the SCO.

"We then set ambitious plans for ourselves - to achieve a trade turnover of a billion dollars. I think that we don’t have time to retreat anywhere, and we don’t need to," Lukashenko was quoted by his press service.

Lukashenko emphasised that the Belarusian side treats its partners from Uzbekistan well and it will always be so.

In turn, Bakhtiyer Saidov conveyed to the Belarusian leader the words of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who asked the Minister to convey "best wishes to my friend”.

"Delighted to be received by the President of Belarus H.E. Aleksandr Lukashenko today in Minsk. Extended the warm greetings on behalf of the President of Uzbekistan H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the leader of Belarus. Our cooperation based on friendship and mutual respect is showing dynamic development in all aspects of Uzbekistan-Belarus agenda. Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Belarus will deploy all their resources to implement the agreements reached at the highest level," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

The Uzbek Foreign Minister called Lukashenko's visit to Tashkent historic and assured that the Uzbek side is ready to raise the level of relations with Minsk.

It should be reminded that the trade turnover between the two countries for two months of 2024 exceeded $86 million.
