A group of US congressmen has introduced a bill that would send $17.6bn in aid to Israel without allocating additional funds to support Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden will veto the bill to allocate funding for aid to Israel. This is stated in a written statement by the White House Office of Management and Budget.
The statement says that if the President were presented with this bill, he would veto it. The Administration urges both houses of Congress to reject this political ploy and instead send a bipartisan national security supplemental appropriations bill to the President's desk as soon as possible. The U.S. Administration strongly opposes such a bill because it does nothing to secure the border, nor does it do anything to support Ukraine.
We shall remind you that on 3 February, a group of US congressmen introduced a bill that would allocate $17.6bn in aid to Israel without allocating additional funds to support Ukraine. The speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, said that lawmakers would vote in favour of this initiative this week.
