The era of unchecked social media advertising in the Uzbek segment is coming to an end. The Tax Committee of Uzbekistan has initiated a direct dialogue with top influencers, pointing out a significant gap between their multi-million earnings and modest tax contributions.

Billions in Stories, Pennies for the Budget: Tax Office Puts Influencers Under Scrutiny
The Tax Committee analyzed the activities of the 110 most active bloggers in the country. It was revealed that half of them are registered as self-employed, which often does not reflect the actual scale of their advertising business. Statistics from 2025 are telling: six top influencers with a combined audience of over 3 million people declared an income of 2.7 billion UZS, while paying only 110.4 million UZS in taxes.

The agency stated directly that the legal status of content creators is inconsistent with their factual activities. During a meeting in Tashkent, officials clarified that using self-employed status for high-turnover businesses is a violation of the law. To avoid future sanctions, influencers were encouraged to "whiten" their income and participate in special training sessions on tax obligations.
