Board of Peace Unveils $2.45 Billion Gaza Recovery Plan

The Board of Peace has unveiled a six-month Gaza recovery plan worth $2.45 billion. The programme includes 66 projects addressing immediate humanitarian and infrastructure needs.
The plan covers rubble removal, hospital repairs, temporary housing, restoration of electricity and water supplies, waste collection and the deployment of security forces. Full recovery and reconstruction of Gaza over the next decade is estimated to require about $71.4 billion.
The Board currently has $280 million available, while the full funding required for the first phase has not yet been secured. The programme is divided into six areas: infrastructure, human development, economic recovery, digital transformation, legal affairs, and peace and security.
Board of Peace executive committee member Jared Kushner said the presentation was intended to demonstrate the body’s commitment to implementing the recovery programme. He acknowledged, however, that the project had faced delays on various issues.
US Special Envoy for Peace Missions Steve Witkoff said the board had made real progress over the past year.
