The Russian team has won its first medals at the Winter Paralympic Games in Italy. Russian alpine skiers secured two bronze medals for the team in the downhill events.

The first medal for Russia was won by Varvara Voronchikhina. The 23-year-old athlete finished the downhill race in 1 minute 24.47 seconds, taking third place.

The gold medal went to Sweden’s Ebba Örsjö, while the silver was claimed by France’s Aurélie Richard.

Russia’s second bronze medal was secured by alpine skier Alexey Bugaev, who finished third in the downhill competition among athletes with physical impairments affecting the musculoskeletal system.

Switzerland’s Robin Cuche took first place in the event, while France’s Arthur Bauchet finished second.

A total of six Russian athletes are competing at the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Italy. The Russian team is participating in the tournament under its national flag and anthem for the first time in several years.
