An increase in attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea has heightened concerns in Turkey over maritime security and the stability of energy supplies.

Turkey Warns of Risks to Black Sea Shipping
According to the Turkish newspaper Aydınlık, experts argue that drone attacks targeting civilian vessels pose risks not only to commercial shipping but also to Turkey's energy security. They say that ships operated by Turkish companies have also been affected.

The publication reports that around 50 vessels were damaged between July 9 and July 11. The attacks were reportedly carried out with drones near Snake Island. As one example, the British company Vanguard Tech stated that on July 7 a Ukrainian drone attacked the Turkish tanker Yasa Polaris near Novorossiysk.

The report emphasizes that commercial shipping remains one of the Black Sea's key transport corridors for energy and raw material supplies. According to the publication, Turkey imports more than five million barrels of Russian oil every month, with imports reaching up to 12 million barrels during some months.

Experts note that maintaining the security of maritime trade routes is strategically important for regional commerce and uninterrupted energy supplies. At the same time, assessments of the scale of the attacks and their consequences continue to vary among different sources.
