The opening ceremony was attended by Adham Ikramov, Minister of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Oybek Kasimov, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, and Bakhromjon Gaziev, President of the Modern Pentathlon Federation of Uzbekistan.

Participants competed in running and laser shooting, two disciplines associated with modern pentathlon. Children and teenagers also took part, giving younger participants an opportunity to become familiar with the sport.

The Tashkent event was held in line with the international calendar of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM). The UIPM’s official 2026 competition calendar lists Tashkent as a host city for the Global Laser Run City Tour.

Laser Run combines running with laser pistol shooting and is used by UIPM as a development format to promote modern pentathlon and introduce the sport to new participants.
