Bukhara 2030: New Regional Development Strategy Approved

Deputies of the Bukhara Regional Council approved the draft Bukhara 2030 Regional Development Strategy during the council's 31st session. The document was prepared by the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with local government authorities as part of the updated Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy.
The draft was presented by A. Abduqodirov, First Deputy Director of the Agency. It sets out the region's long-term socio-economic development priorities based on Bukhara's competitive advantages, current challenges and national development goals.
The strategy focuses on increasing gross regional product and household incomes, attracting foreign investment, implementing major projects in the gas-chemical, oil and gas, construction, textile, food processing, pharmaceutical, engineering and chemical industries, and strengthening the Made in Bukhara brand in international markets.
The document also prioritizes the development of pilgrimage and cultural tourism, the expansion of modern service infrastructure and implementation of the Bukhara 24/7 concept. Other priorities include improving education, digitalizing healthcare, reducing poverty, advancing information technologies and modernizing transport and engineering infrastructure.
A key innovation of the strategy is the introduction of a functional territorial development model that assigns specialized economic roles to individual cities and districts. Following the discussion, the draft strategy was approved and submitted for formal adoption in accordance with the established procedure.
