By 2030, Uzbekistan has all the opportunities to completely eradicate absolute poverty. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made this statement at the opening of the 3rd International Forum “From Poverty to Prosperity,” which began on September 17 in Namangan.

By 2030, it is possible to completely eradicate absolute poverty in Uzbekistan
Despite global instability, the President stressed that fighting poverty in Uzbekistan has become a state policy priority. Over the past years, 7.5 million citizens have been lifted out of poverty, and in 2024 the poverty rate dropped to 8.9%, with plans to reduce it to 6% by the end of 2025.

With the economy doubling in size and per capita income reaching $3,500, Uzbekistan is already on track to halve poverty before 2030. “Today, we are ready to set an even higher goal: by 2030, Uzbekistan can fully eliminate absolute poverty — and we will achieve it,” said President Mirziyoyev.

The program “From Poverty to Prosperity” is based on seven priorities:

creation of high-income jobs (in 2024, $35 billion in investments, 9,000 enterprises opened);

development of education and vocational training (800,000 trained in 5 years);

broader participation of women (1.7 million employed this year alone);

accessible healthcare for vulnerable groups;

targeted social protection through “Inson” centers;

improving mahalla infrastructure;

directing more than 70% of state spending toward SDGs.

The forum brought together over 200 international experts, including representatives of the Islamic Development Bank, ADB, JICA, the World Bank, and the UN. In 2026, Khiva will host a separate conference to discuss a “new financial architecture for poverty reduction.”
